Colourist Creations
About the Artist:
My fondness of painting started at an early age, I have always been drawn to vivid colours. I draw inspiration from nature, whether that be from a butterflies wing seen whilst walking or an early morning sunrise pondered at the start of the day whilst enjoying my first coffee.
I have studied ‘A’ level art, but I see myself as a self-taught Colourist Artist, colourist painting is the style of art where the colours are the dominant feature of the painting rather than the subject matter. When I get the creative bug and start on a new canvas I typically begin by playing with different colour combinations, experimenting with contrasting colours that pop or perhaps just focusing on one particular colour and blending into different tones. Once I have a colour plan in mind the rest of the picture comes into my mind.
I paint in my spare time when not working or being a mum. I like to take time for myself and relax with yoga or swimming but painting for me is the only therapy that takes me back to my roots. I hope the tranquillity I feel whilst painting shows through my work, if I can bring bring warmth to a room that portrays a positive ambience then my job is complete.
About the Paintings:
I paint primarily with oil colours on stretched canvas, I use mixed media as well as thick paint if I wish the painting to have a textured effect. If oil pastel's have been used I will finish the painting with a varnish to protect it against aging and dirt.
The majority of my work I sign on the front of the painting, some have deliberately not been signed so that the buyer can choose to hang horizontally or vertically. A certificate of authenticity signed by myself accompanies all original paintings. All copyright and reproduction rights are reserved by myself.
Where I can I will use recycled packaging in an effort to save our planet. I occasionally reuse canvases and will state this in the painting description.
Postage within the UK only, all packages are tracked and signed for by the receiver.
